Weekly Notices

Thursday 19th February 2026

As we enter the sacred season of Lent, we begin a new journey together following our Ash Wednesday service, where we introduced our theme,
WALKING WITH JESUS IN PRAYER

We reflected on how prayer begins not with performance or perfect words, but by honestly placing our true selves before God. Over the coming Sundays, we will continue walking with Jesus in prayer, seeking to deepen our relationship with God step by step.

This Sunday, we begin with Finding the Rhythm, exploring how, in the wilderness seasons of life, prayer keeps us in step with God by grounding us in His Word and faithfulness, as we discover the strength and steadiness of Scriptural, Anchoring Prayer.

A reminder that our Lent Book Group also begins this Saturday at 9:30am in the Church Centre. If you haven't signed up yet, there's still time! The first session will be an introduction, and you're welcome to attend all or just a few sessions.  Sign Up

HELP MAKE OUR CHURCH BLOOM

We warmly invite you to sign up to help arrange flowers for one (or more) Sundays during the year at St Mary's. By placing flowers in the vases beside the cross, you'll be helping to add beauty and inspiration to our worship space.

Simply add your name to any empty slot on the rota located on the boards at the back of church - every contribution is truly appreciated.

Full guidance on what to do, when, and how to arrange the flowers can be found on the notice next to the sign-up sheet. If you'd prefer to chat with someone about what's involved, please email Sheila or call her: 07799 097411, who will be very happy to help.

ELECTORAL ROLL REVIEW

Our Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) will take place in April, and as we prepare for this important moment in the life of our church, we warmly invite those who are NOT currently on the Church Electoral Roll to consider joining.

The Church Electoral Roll is the official membership list of the Church of England at Parish level. Being on the roll shows your commitment to this church and gives you a voice in its life and future. Those on the Electoral Roll are entitled to attend and vote at the APCM, where churchwardens and PCC members are elected, and where we reflect together on the past year and look ahead to what God is calling us to next.

Joining the Electoral Roll is a simple but meaningful way of saying, "This is my church, and I want to be part of its journey."

Please note: this invitation is only for those who are not already on the Electoral Roll. If you are unsure whether you are already on the list, please check online or refer to the list displayed at the back of church.
You DO NOT need to apply if you are already on the list.

Applications to join the Electoral Roll must be submitted by 31st March. Applications to be made online only, and further information will be shared in due course. If you have any questions in the meantime, please speak to a member of the clergy or churchwardens.

As part of Lent, we will also be running a four part Lent Book Group over a light breakfast. Using a book edited by the Archbishop of Canterbury, called Dancing to the Heartbeat of God, will be talking about some of the stories from across the globe which offers a confident and hopeful vision of faith lived out in everyday life.

The sessions will run on select Saturdays in February & March in the Church Centre.  You can sign up to all dates or just one.

MOTHERING SUNDAY

You're warmly invited to join us on Sunday 15th March for our special Mothering Sunday All Age Communion service. This will be a wonderful opportunity for all generations to gather in worship and thanksgiving. There will be engaging activities for primary school children in Fun & Faith, and during the sermon we'll be continuing our series, 'Walking with Jesus in Prayer,' exploring how God sees us and how prayer awakens our spiritual sight. Need Prayer?

We see prayer as essential and a privilege and we want to be able to pray for anyone that may need prayer. There is no judgement on how big or small the prayer request is and as followers of Christ, we are free to come to him and have confidence that Jesus hears and welcomes our prayers.

If you or someone you know needs prayer, send us your prayer. The request will be sent to a group of prayerful people who will pray for you or the person in need. As a group they will only know the information you ask to be forwarded to them, and they will hold this request in confidence. The request will only be shared with the small group of people in the prayer group.
