WARGRAVE’S BIG NIGHT OF MUSIC IS BACK
Saturday 14 November, 7.00pm, St Mary’s Church, Wargrave
The Wargrave Annual Concert returns this autumn for what has become one of the musical highlights of the village year - bringing together outstanding professional and student musicians, much-loved local performers, two choirs and music ranging from opera and the classics to some of the greatest songs from the musicals.
And with another sell-out expected, the message is simple: buy your tickets early!
TICKET DAY – SATURDAY 10 OCTOBER
Tickets go on sale for the first time at the Church Centre, Mill Green, from 9.00–10.30am on Saturday 10 October.
PERFORMERS
This year’s concert brings together an extraordinary range of talent
Returning to Wargrave is brilliant young violinist Elif Cansever, who delighted audiences at last year’s Annual Concert and returned in the summer to perform with the Academy (ASMF) at the Wargrave Festival.
She will be joined by fellow Royal College of Music student Markus Sadler. Markus won the 2025 RCM Concerto Competition and is one of the RCM’s most exciting young pianists.
Two outstanding singers will bring both opera and the musicals to Wargrave. Our own soprano Kirsty Taylor-Stokes, who recently sang with the Royal Choral Society at Alexandra Palace, will be joined by Dutch-Canadian tenor James Schouten. James has sung major roles with Grange Park Opera and Regents Opera and won both First Prize and the Audience Prize at the 2024 Carole Rees Mastersingers Competition.
There is plenty of local, amazing instrumental talent too, with Liz Drew (clarinet), Laura Anstee (cello), Paul Speed (trumpet) and Kate Chislett (flute).
And two of the most eagerly awaited performances each year come from our choirs: the children of Robert Piggott Junior School, directed by Stephanie Daisley, and the Wargrave Community Choir, directed by David Knight — who will also be bringing along his saxophone this year.
The programme is directed by St Mary’s Director of Music, Peter Dart, with members of the Dart family also joining the line-up. There really is something for everyone.
Think Classic FM on a Saturday evening, add a glass of wine and a packed St Mary’s Church - and you’ll be in the zone.
