Weekly Notices
Thursday 5th June 2025
As we look to the week ahead, we prepare to celebrate Pentecost – often called the Church's birthday. It's a joyful reminder of how the Holy Spirit brought the early believers together and sent them out to share God's love with the world. This is more than just a commemoration; it's a chance to rejoice in the life of our own church community, to reflect on how far we've come, and to pray for fresh inspiration as we continue our journey together. Come ready to celebrate, to worship, and to be renewed!

Come & Meet
Light Bites & Warm Conversations
We’re holding a series of relaxed “Come & Meet” sessions in August and September. These are informal gatherings over a light bite (Coffee, Lunch or Dinner) and are a chance for David to tell you more of his story and to start to explore how God is calling us to be a church at the heart of the community. We’d love you to join us, get to know one another.
Help us give a warm welcome to our new vicar and ask your questions!
We’re excited to welcome the Wargrave Brownies & Rainbows to St Mary’s this summer for a nature hunt and bell-ringing, as part of Churches Count on Nature, which runs alongside the Great Big Green Week. Everyone is invited to visit the churchyard during this time (or either side of it) to spot and record wildlife – from birds and butterflies to wildflowers and lichens. No expertise is needed – apps like iNaturalist make it easy! Photos are welcome, and ID charts and risk assessments can be provided. Come and explore!
On Wednesday 11th June we gather for prayer and reflection. This is a peaceful time set aside for personal reflection, prayer, and stillness in God’s presence. Whether you wish to bring your own prayers, sit in silence, or simply take a moment to pause, all are welcome to join. 9.30am | Hannen Room
This Father's Day, we take a moment to celebrate and give thanks for the gift of fatherhood - in all its forms. We give thanks for the fathers and father-figures in our lives: for those who guide, encourage, protect, and support. We remember too that fatherhood can be joyful, complex, and sometimes painful - and we hold space for all those for whom this day carries mixed emotions. Above all, we give thanks for the Fatherhood of God - the one who is constant, compassionate, and close. Whether or not we've known that kind of love in our earthly families, we are reminded that in God, we are always deeply known and deeply loved. St Mary's at 9.45am | St Peter's at 11.15am
We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to the next CAMEO (Come And Meet Each Other) session, which will take place on Thursday 19th June at 2.30pm at Knowl Hill Village Hall. This month, we’re adding a fun twist to our usual afternoon gathering with a Spelling Bee! Whether you’re a seasoned wordsmith or just fancy giving it a go for a bit of light-hearted fun, there’s something for everyone. As always, there’ll be plenty of time for conversation, refreshments, and friendly company. We hope to see you there!
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Thy Kingdom Come (TKC), a milestone that celebrates a decade of faithful prayer and spiritual growth. Each year, Christians of all ages and backgrounds set aside these 11 days to pray intentionally for five people they know - friends, family members, neighbours, or colleagues - to encounter the love and truth of Jesus. The heart of TKC is simple: that more people would come to know Jesus. It’s a powerful reminder that evangelism begins with prayer, and that every believer has a role to play in sharing God’s love. Whether you’re able to pray quietly at home, join in with a church group, or simply set aside a moment each day, you are part of something far bigger than yourself. This is a chance to lift our hearts and voices in unity, trusting that God will move through our prayers.
Help repair St Peter’s
Come and enjoy a light-hearted evening of song and music performed by a variety of talented local artists and groups. This special event will take place in the beautifully atmospheric setting of St Peter’s Church, Knowl Hill on Friday 1st August, creating a memorable and uplifting summer evening for all ages.
All funds raised from the evening will go directly towards the cost of much-needed repairs to the plaster walls inside the church. Your support will help preserve this historic building at the heart of our community.
We’d love to welcome you - bring friends and family, and enjoy an evening of great music for a great cause!
