ANNUAL PARISH BEREAVEMENT SERVICE

A gentle and reflective service to remember loved ones by name, with space for thanksgiving, comfort, and hope.

Each year we gather for a special service to remember those we have loved and lost, and this year’s Annual Bereavement Service will take place on Sunday 3rd November at 3pm in St Mary’s Church.

This is always a gentle and moving occasion, drawing together people from across the parish and beyond. The service gives us space to pause, to reflect, and to give thanks for the lives of family members and friends who are no longer with us, but who remain dear to our hearts. It is a time when the church becomes a place of comfort and hope, where memories are honoured and love is celebrated.

During the service, we read aloud the names of loved ones, a simple but profound act of remembrance. Many people find it very meaningful to hear a name spoken in the stillness of the church, and to see a candle lit as a sign of continuing light in the midst of loss. If you would like the name of someone special to be included in this year’s dedications, please do let us know by Friday 24th October.

The service is open to all, whether or not you have a name to be remembered. Some people come because their loss is recent and raw; others because the years have passed but the bond of love remains as strong as ever. Whatever your reason, you are warmly invited to come, to sit quietly, to listen, and to know you are not alone.

We hope you will join us for this service of remembrance and thanksgiving.
