Electoral Roll

Being on the Electoral Roll

The Electoral Roll is a list of church members who, by being included on the Roll, have the right to attend the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) and elect, or be elected as, members of the Parochial Church Council and Deanery Synod representatives.

It is the nearest thing a Church of England Parish has to a formal Membership qualification, and members, even though not residents in the parish, can also qualify to act as sidesmen at church services, apply to send children to church schools, and be married or buried at the Parish Churches. The wider Church uses the numbers of members in a variety of official statistics.

Becoming a member of the Electoral Roll implies a commitment to the foundational beliefs of the Christian faith, and willingness to financially support the Church.

The current list of members is displayed publicly in our Churches, but for Privacy reasons their contact details are no longer included.

The Electoral Roll 2025

Every year, all parishes in the Church of England are required to prepare a new Electoral Roll as part of the APCM process. In April of this year, the Electoral Roll went through a complete renewal, not just a revision. This meant that everyone who wished to remain on the Electoral Roll needed to reapply. This was closed on the 30th April where those that submitted a response were included on our May 2025 Electoral Roll List which was presented at the APCM.

NEW APPLICATIONS

We are able to accept new applications throughout the year. Each application will be brought to the PCC to approve at their next meeting. Upon acceptance, your name will be included.
