Annual Parochial
Church Meeting
What happens in a year?
The Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) is an important yearly gathering for parish members to review the past year's activities, finances, and future plans of the church. During the APCM, reports are presented on church finances, property, worship, and mission work, as well as updates from various church groups and ministries. Elections are also held for key roles, including Parochial Church Council (PCC) members, churchwardens, and representatives for the Deanery Synod. The APCM is a chance for parishioners to engage in the church's direction, celebrate achievements, discuss challenges, and help shape plans for the coming year. All church members are encouraged to attend, participate, and support the mission of the church.
The next APCM is due to take place on Sunday 18th May 2025
A Short Review for 2024
2024 was a year of transition and resilience for the Parish of Wargrave with Knowl Hill. Following the departures of Revd John Cook and curate Revd Richard Eves, the PCC worked diligently to maintain services, recruit new clergy, and manage legal and financial responsibilities. A Parish Profile was created to aid the vicar recruitment process, and lay leadership played a vital role during the Interregnum. Despite challenges, church life remained vibrant, with active youth and charity work, strong festival attendance, and growing community involvement.
Financially, the parish ended the year with a small surplus on unrestricted funds but an overall reduction due to project-related spending. The forecast for 2025 suggests a deficit, highlighting the need for renewed stewardship. St Peter’s Church saw notable building improvements and continued community outreach. Across all ministries - from safeguarding to communications, caring, stewarding, and music - volunteers and staff showed remarkable dedication and adaptability.

Have you considered becoming a Member of the PCC?
Being a member of the Parochial Church Council (PCC) means playing an active role in the life and governance of the church. The PCC works with the vicar to support the mission and ministry of the parish, helping to shape its vision, oversee finances, care for church buildings, and ensure that decisions are made in line with Christian values. Members meet regularly to pray, discuss, and make decisions about church matters. It's a chance to serve the church community, offer your perspective, and help guide its future.
Anyone who is a regular communicant in our Parish, and has signed up to the new electoral roll, can be proposed to be elected as a member of the PCC. If you are interested in standing for the PCC, please contact Sheila Williams, the secretary of the PCC, as soon as possible.
