Weekly Notices: Thursday 20th June 2024

The start of the tennis season is upon us what with Queen's this week and Wimbledon starting on the 1st July.  During this time, the players go through a series of challenges that test their training, endurance, mindset, forgiveness and humility.  They must battle with temptation knowing that what decision they make can affect the outcome and ultimately the game.  They must learn to forgive themselves for errors they make with the mindset of coming back stronger and more determined.  It is a battle and just like in life, we face these tests all the time, but God prepares us for them.  He teaches us humility by letting us lose a point or game. He prepares us for long rallies by giving us patience and not letting us surrender to temptation.  He helps us to be loving, understanding and forgiving to our opponent (or linesman) for testing us.

So, what can we do?  We can ask God to help us make the right decisions, to put the time into our training to become a better Christian and ultimately win the battle against temptation.

Postcards from Paul

Word has reached us that Paul has now arrived safely in Athens on his mission to tell people the good news about Jesus. We’re all looking forward to reading his latest postcard telling us how he’s getting on with the Athenians …

They have a reputation for loving to talk about anything and everything as long as it’s new and interesting, without coming to any sort of conclusion. Paul won’t like that. Will he manage to persuade any of these sophisticated philosophers to take a simple step of faith?

Join us on Sunday at 9.45am in the Church Centre.

All welcome from 4 years to 16 years.
