A JOURNEY TO EASTER

In the four Thursdays as we approach Easter, we will reflect on the four key days at the heart of Holy Week: Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday. Each week we will focus on one of these important moments in the story of Jesus' final days.

This week we focus on what Good Friday is during Holy Week.
Good Friday, 3rd April, marks the day Jesus Christ was crucified, when he gave his life on the cross out of love for the world. For us, it is a solemn reminder of the cost of our forgiveness and the depth of God's grace, as Jesus' sacrifice opens the way to new life and reconciliation with God.

We will gather to reflect and worship together at two services:

 Walk of Witness
A family-friendly walk around Wargrave beginning at Highfield Park at 10:00am, following a gentle route through local roads to St Mary's for 11:00am, finishing with hot cross buns in the Church Centre.

Discover the route.

An Hour at the Cross
At 2:00pm, join us for a service of scripture, prayer, and reflection as we pause to remember Christ's love shown in his suffering and death at St Mary's

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE

Start Easter Sunday in a truly special way with our brand-new Sunrise Communion on Mill Green. Gather around the fire as the first light of dawn breaks, joining in prayer, thanksgiving, and communion to celebrate the resurrection of Christ.

This will be a standing service, so if you'd like to sit, please bring a chair. It will still be a little dark at the start, so bring a torch to help you find your way. Order of Service printouts will be limited, but you can follow along easily using our online service sheet which we will share next week with you.

We'd love to know numbers for breakfast afterwards, so please sign up to help us plan. Don't miss this uplifting way to greet Easter morning together!

EASTER SUNDAY FOR ALL THE FAMILY

Easter Sunday is the most joyful and significant day in the Christian calendar, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. It marks the triumph of life over death, hope over despair, and love over sin.

Join us for the Easter Egg Hunt – a fun-filled adventure for children as they search for hidden treasures in the churchyard! Along the way, they’ll discover mini Fairtrade Easter eggs, reminding us of the joy of sharing and kindness.

Saturday 25th April
It's time for a Spring Clean inside the church, also from 10.30am -  bring your dusters and gloves as we refresh the space where we gather to worship and celebrate the cross.

Both mornings will end with a well-earned tipple in the pub, sharing fellowship and the joy of working together. Let's help make our church shine, lifting our spirits and our steps in God's service!

For those that are ready to tackle the cobwebs and those hard-to-reach spots we have the Aerial team which will be meeting at 10:30am in the Church.  Please note that you will be climbing ladders so it is not for the faint hearted.
For those that prefer to roll up their sleeves to do some sorting, clearing out and polishing, we shall be meeting at 11:30am in the Centre, however, jobs will be in both the church and the centre.

Need Prayer?

We see prayer as essential and a privilege and we want to be able to pray for anyone that may need prayer. There is no judgement on how big or small the prayer request is and as followers of Christ, we are free to come to him and have confidence that Jesus hears and welcomes our prayers.

If you or someone you know needs prayer, send us your prayer. The request will be sent to a group of prayerful people who will pray for you or the person in need. As a group they will only know the information you ask to be forwarded to them, and they will hold this request in confidence. The request will only be shared with the small group of people in the prayer group.
