FLOWER FESTIVAL Friday 26, Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June at St Mary’s Opening times: see Festival programme As part of Wargrave Village Festival 2009, a Flower Festival was held in St Mary’s depicting all aspects of Medieval Life - from the rise of our great Cathedrals to the legends of Camelot; from the merrymaking of a country fayre to the triumphs of Henry V and from the production of the Domesday Book to the bawdy Tales of Chaucer. This fascinating period of English History was depicted by the Church Flower Arranging Team, Sunday Club members and the local schools? Barbara Lloyd and her team of volunteers provided teas and refreshments in the Church during the Festival. This was not only a major fundraising effort for St Mary’s, it was also a chance to be part of a very special weekend in Wargrave. FESTIVAL SERVICE Sunday 28th June Time: 10.00 for informal Morning Worship with Jeremy Vine, who was visiting the Wargrave Festival, as our speaker. After Jane Poirrier had spoken about her own faith, Jeremy spoke about what his faith means to him. The Lively praise with St Mary's Wind Band, something for young and old alike, with a short reflective time for prayer formed the basis of this Service. CHILDREN AND FAMILY PARTY Sunday 28th June Time: 11.45 for 12.00 noon After Morning Worship there was a fantastic BBQ and buffet for all, with games and entertainment for children of all ages, with the food given by members of the Church (and also some delicious left-overs from the Festival Ball Dinner!). The Church family were also involved in the Fête and many other events; do come and join in whenever possible.
