At the 10.30 am Service at St. Mary's Wargrave on Easter Day, 24th April 2011, the Vicar, the Revd John Cook, preached to a packed congregation on St. Paul's 1st Letter to the Corinthians, chapter 15 verses 1-11 (you may read these verses here). In these verses, Paul gave three good reasons for the importance of the Resurrection in defining and confirming the Gospel of Jesus Christ - it was based on historical evidence from eye-witnesses, it was foretold and explained by scripture (ie the Old Testament), and when personally received, it determines for each of us our future in the Kingdom of Heaven. You may listen to the sermon here.
Following this, Susie Buckle sang Handel's aria "I know that my Redeemer liveth" from The Messiah. A recording of this was made, and although its quality is only of medium quality, she has kindly agreed that it can be made available here for those who would like to hear it (again). We thank her both for her inspirational singing, and for her permission to reproduce it here.
